Fall in New England

I managed a few minutes the other day to drive around and capture some reminders that Winter is not far off. Another year is almost over and for various reasons, I am glad to see it go.

These images were all taken along the Assabet River in my hometown.

Race of the Century

The Collings Foundation in Stow, Massachusetts hosts a yearly event that pits some of the greatest technological advancements in human mobility against each other in what they call “The Race of the Century”. They have a collection of over 90 automobiles, racecars and aircraft housed in a large barn and two-story hanger on their property in Stow.  The weather was perfect, although a bit hot and humid standing there for several hours taking pictures. I had a great time!

I had visitors today

These beautiful creatures wandered through my backyard earlier today. I have seen them around my end of town a few times, but not in my neighborhood and never in my backyard. There are woods behind my house so it is not unusual to see some wild critters. This pair were huge. The male stood about 4 feet tall. I know they can be nasty if you try to get near them, but they were awesome to behold just the same. I would have loved to see the fella spread his tail feathers for me but it was pouring rain and they seemed to just be on a leisurely stroll.

Toonaday made a “Toon” for me!

I stumbled across Ron Leishman a few days ago. I knew him from a graphics forum I frequented in the 90’s when I was playing around with a very old version of Paint Shop Pro. Ron did a tutorial for us on how to create vector art which was great, except that I can’t draw at all; even with presets. I was happy to see that Ron had made quite something of himself in the ‘toon’ area and that he accepts requests. I spent some time looking through his cartoons for a ‘lady’ photographer. What I found were one that looked like a tourist and another that looked to be a cute little old lady with a point-and-shoot. I sent a request for a professional lady photographer and this is what he sent…
